Edward Anthony
Marcinko, Sr.
April 6, 1925 – February 18, 2017
Edward (Eddie the Barber) Anthony Marcinko, Sr., a lifelong resident of Fell's Point passed away peacefully at the age of 91 in his home surrounded by his three children on February 18,2017. He was the beloved husband of the late Cecelia T. Marcinko (nee Grzegorak) whom he married in 1954 and honeymooned in Cuba. He was the son of the late Stefan and Anna (nee Baginski) Marcinko; and the last surviving member of a family of 11 siblings. As a youth, Eddie was an avid boxer and won the 1942 Amateur Flyweight Baltimore City Championship. He served in the US Army in World War II in the Occupational Forces from 1945-47 and was awarded the WW II Victory Medal. Following his service, Ed became a master barber, graduating under the GI Bill and serving the community for 50 years. He retired from the General Motors Broening Highway Assembly Plant, as a member of the UAW, after 48 years. Ed was an avid pigeon fancier and successful racer from the Hamilton Homing Pigeon Club, Inc. After retirement in 1993, he loved vacation cruises to such places as Alaska, Hawaii, and the Carribean with his wife, family and friends. He is survived by three children: Dr. David Edward Marcinko and his wife Hope Hetico-Marcinko of Atlanta,GA, Cecelia Theresa Perez of Ellicott City, MD and Edward Anthony Marcinko, Jr. of Fell's Point. Loving grandfather of Mackenzie Marcinko. Family and friends may gather at LILLY & ZEILER INC. FUNERAL HOME, 1901 Eastern Avenue/21231 on Wednesday and Thursday from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Rosary Church on Friday at 10 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
