IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Holly (Johnson)
Mathias
December 22, 1950 – January 27, 2026
It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Holly Johnson Mathias who left us on January 27, 2026 at the age of 75.
Holly is survived by her husband, Thomas H. Mathias as well as her children; Jill Mathias-Adkins and her husband, Tommy; Mike Rytlewski-Mathias and his wife, Susan. She is the loving grandmother to Austin Crocker and his wife Rebekah, Christian Mathias and his fiancé Caden Ziegler, Shawn McWilliams, and Zada Mathias; as well as the dearest great grandmother to Madison, Carson and Gracelynn Crocker. Holly is also survived by her two brothers: Craig Johnson and his wife, Susan and sons Kurt and Eric; and Eric Johnson and his wife, Susie.
Holly was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin on December 22, 1950 to Edward Randolph and Jean Phyllis (Hinz) Johnson. She grew up in Wisconsin where she attended Whitefish Bay and Shorewood High Schools. After moving to Texas in the 1980's, she became an avid member of the local community theater appearing as the lead in many plays. You could not mistake her northern accent on the radio dial on KUFO FM where she worked as the News Director. Holly would never admit it, but she sure had a lot of fun spinning those 45's at the Holiday Inn DJ'ing the night away as "DISCO HOLLY."
Holly put her family first, always making sure we were taken care of before thinking of herself. Whether she was making our favorite meals or just being there to listen, she was always the heart of our family.
We'll miss her deeply—her husband, children, grandchildren, and everyone lucky enough to know her. We are grateful for the strength she shared with us, even up to her last day. We will do our best not to be sad that she is gone, but to celebrate the memories of her and the time that we spent with her.
We'll be holding a celebration of life on March 7, 2026 in Austin, TX.
