Obituary

Hugh Locklear, 75, a Lumbee Indian native to Baltimore, MD, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 17th, 2025. He was born on Tuesday, August 30th, 1949, in Robeson County, North Carolina to the late Eb and Bertha Locklear.

Hugh was a skilled mathematician and excelled at his educational studies in his younger years. Hugh also consistently contributed to his community, the church, and was a board member for the Baltimore American Indian Center. He was described as reliable with an extremely kind heart, had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh, and was known by many as one of the most selfless and altruistic humans they ever knew.

Hugh was preceded in death by his brothers, James Locklear, Tommy Locklear, Carl Locklear; and his sister, Ella Mae Locklear; his daughter, Juanita Locklear; his grandson, Ricky Chavis; and his nephew Leon Locklear.
