IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kevin Anthony
Kucker
March 9, 1952 – November 18, 2013
Kevin Anthony Kucker was born on March 9, 1952, and passed into God's arms on Monday, November 18, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 61. Kevin was born in Bellerose, N.Y., to Anne and Harry Kucker, their third child and first son. Kevin loved adventure from an early age, hitchhiking with only a guitar on a cross-country trip from New York to Colorado - and made local headlines - when he was only 18. In 1978, his daughter Allison was born. She was the light of his life. They spent weekends with his family and enjoyed many cookouts at the beach. Now married with three children, Allison and her husband Howie Gumpel reside in New York and share her father's love of the water, boating and travel. Kevin built a career in finance and auditing in New York, and travelledaround the world. It was on one lucky business trip when he met the love of his life, Cindy. They spent time living in Long Island and Queens, N.Y., settling down ultimately in Baltimore, Md., never far from his beloved water. They married in 1992 in Baltimore. Kevin was an avid boater and fisherman his whole life. He loved being in his boat, vacationing to Aruba with Cindy, and escaping to the Caribbean every chance they could. Kevin loved music. He taught himself how to play guitar as a teenager, and with his father, Harry and brother Brian, would entertain the family playing guitar and singing everything from classic rock to the family favorite, "You are my sunshine". Kevin was a devoted family man and always made time to join the bustling family celebrations with his wife and parents, Aunt Rose, sisters Kathy, Nancy and Jeanne, brother Brian and sister-in-law Lynn, brother-in-law Joe, cousins Linda and Timmy and wife Donna, and their growing families. A guitar was always nearby, and the family grew up singing, dancing and laughing together, forever close despite the years. Kevin had great success as the director of an Audit group for Primerica for many years, eventually becoming Director and Global Liaison for Citigroup's Audit and Risk Review group. During his time with the company Kevin travelled the world to places such as Chile, Belgium, London and Scotland, one of his favorite places being Tokyo. Kevin was honored by his Japanese colleagues and was given a Japanese name "Kyoshi" which translates to "Man of Integrity and Virtue". Kevin was beloved by all.He was a caring listener, witty and funny, and always kind. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife, Cindy of Baltimore, MD., daughter Allison and son-in-law Howie Gumpel of Massapequa, NY; his mother Anne Kucker of Richmond, VA.; sisters Katherine Kenny of Richmond, VA., Anne "Nancy" and husband Joe Fortuna of Floral Park, N.Y., Jeanne Johnson of Richmond, VA.; brother Brian Kucker and wife Lynn Kucker of Matthews County, Va., and close cousin, Linda Walsh. In addition, he is survived and missed by his nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death and welcomed to Heaven by his father, the late Harry Kucker and his cousin Thomas McCarthy. A viewing for family and friends, and Mass at St. Jude's Shrine were held in Baltimore, MD. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Kevin's name to the American Cancer Society.
