Philip C. Yurek, a devoted family man, respected veteran, and lifelong friend, passed away peacefully at his home with his family in Havre de Grace, Maryland, on May 19, 2026.Born on December 2, 1945, in Baltimore, Maryland, Philip dedicated much of his life to serving others—both through his military service and his enduring career.
Philip honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a testament to his courage and commitment to his country. Following his military service, he embarked on a dedicated professional journey at Bethlehem Steel, where he worked faithfully for his entire career. His work ethic and integrity left a lasting impression on colleagues and those who knew him within the industry.
Beyond his professional achievements, Philip was known for his wonderful sense of humor that could brighten the darkest days. His interests included a passion for cars, electronics, and shortwave radios, hobbies that reflected his curiosity and keen mind.
Philip's loving presence will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Catherine Yurek; his devoted children, Denise Yurek-Prinz and her husband Karl Prinz, Daniel Yurek, Kimberly Yurek-Adcock and her husband Michael Adcock, Michele Yurek and her husband Walter Banks, and Stephanie Monath along with her husband Everett Monath. His grandchildren—Zachary LaFlame, Kali Prinz, Brianna Prinz, Lundyn Prinz, Devin Wood, Brice Wood, Alexander Yurek, Seth Yurek, Nicholas Yurek, Desirae Dickerson, and Cayden Arroyo—along with great-grandchildren Charlotte, Eli, Mason, Nova,Shelby, Riley and Mila carry forward his legacy of kindness and laughter.
Philip C. Yurek’s life was marked by service, dedication, and love. He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but for the genuine warmth he shared with all who had the privilege of knowing him. His family takes solace in the memory of his peaceful passing, surrounded by those who cherished him most.
