Anna Nishchuk Obituary

Anna immigrated to the United States in 1949 at the age of 16. She graduated from Saint Martin's Catholic High School, and later married William Nishchuk in 1955. Anna was an active member in her church, St. Michael's The Archangel Ukrainin Catholic Church, youth organizations, choirs, ethnic dance and the Ukrainian Women's Association. Anna was blessed with four children, Zirka, William, Mykola and Roman. She was also the proud grandmother of four grandchildren, Victor, Julianna, Alexander and William, Jr. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who worked very hard to keep close family ties. Anna maintained Ukrainian traditions and taught her children the importance of Ukrainian heritage by involving them in church and youth activities, Ukrainian school, camps, music, etc. Anna enjoyed embroidering and sewing, listening to music and singing. She loved animals and get pleasure from having pet dogs and cats. She was a kind and gentle soul, who always had kind words. She knew how to soothe and comfort those in need and never turned anyone away who needed help. All were welcomed in her home. She had a proverb for every situation and for welcoming guests in her home, translated, she said "Whatever my home is rich in, it is yours." Anna had a wonderful sense of humor and smiled all of the time, even when times were hard for her, especially after her husband passed. She took comfort in her children and grandchildren and enjoyed her life until she was diagnosed with cancer. She will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, smile, laughter, commitment to her heritage and love for life and her family. May you rest in peace; Vichnaya Pamiat. Zika Hanas
