MARY CATHERINE VOGEL passed into eternal life on October 27,2023, surrounded by loving family. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Bernard J. and Regina (nee Siebenhaar) Vogel, brother Bernard "Dex", and sisters Marlene and Carolyn. She is survived by two sisters, Sr. Anne Vogel,SSND and Regina Vogel Dietz, 14 nieces and nephews: Eric, Carol, Mark, Mike, Brian, John, Jeanne, David, Carla, Kathy, Terry, Ann, Becky and Beth; 29 great nieces and nephews and 7 great great nieces and nephews.
Mary was born on June 1,1929, in a farm house where her parents lived on the grounds of Notch Cliff Convent, where her father managed the convent grounds for the School Sisters of Notre Dame. The family moved to Highlandtown in 1931, where many of their relatives lived, and in 1935, they purchased land for their own farm north of Baltimore.
Mary graduated from The Institute of Notre Dame in 1947. She loved to travel, and began a long career with United Airlines as a ticket agent, which helped feed her love of travel. "Aunt Mary" was ever present in her nieces and nephews lives, and blessed them with many memorable trips over the years.
Mary touched countless lives throughout her 94 years. Fiercely independent, she traveled all over the world, often by herself or with friends and family, and she developed lifelong relationships worldwide. Mary was also a devoted Catholic, who was always helping others. Her faith was in the forefront of her enriched life.
Family and friends may gather at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at Charlestown Community, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville,MD 21228 on Saturday, November 4,2023 at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, 7401 German Hill Rd.,Dundalk,MD 21222.
